Chogger.com review
Comic Strip Creator

Chogger is an application that lets users create comic strips. It is very user-friendly and can be used with many grade levels for different reasons. Teachers can use Chogger to create educational comic strips based on topics being taught in class. Young students can use the application as a form of art and/or expression, while older students can make comic strips based on educational topics they're learning about. For example, a high school English student can make a comic strip depicting a scene from a book he or she is reading in class, while a middle school social studies student can create a political cartoon based on a current event. The program is very easy to use so I think users as young as elementary school can use it, provided they are given some initial instruction on how to use it. Middle and high school students can use it for more complicated subjects and they can probably figure out how to use all the features by themselves.

Users can pick a layout format and can add boxes, resize the boxes, change the box colors, etc. They can also draw pictures, find pictures from google, take a photo with a webcam, or upload photos from their computers to use in their comics. Images can be resized and layered on the panels. Additionally, users can add different speech or thought bubbles to their creations and type whatever they want into them. Once done with the comic strip, users can add a title, description, and tags to their creation. They can then publish their comic strip on the website.

The best features of this website are:
  • Ability to draw pictures to add to the comics.
  • Access to photos from google to use in comics.
  • Ability to add whatever text the user wishes.
  • User can have as many or as little panels in their comics.
  • Very user-friendly.
  • Creative yet educational activity.
Chogger.com is both motivational and inspirational. While it's can be used in an academic manner, students will have fun while creating their comics. The possibilites are endless with the program. This application can be used in a collaborative way by having students share ideas and together they create one comic , however I think it is best used for individual projects. There are many subjects that using this program could be used for. As mentioned in the first paragraph, elementary school students can use this program as an art project and they can make their own drawings or make collages. They can also use it to write stories and draw their own characters. Middle and high school students can create scenes from historical or literary events. They can also use it for science and depict a science experiment. Also, teachers can make comic strips about a topic or idea and print them out or show them on the projector, smartboard, etc. to help students better understand the material. In addition to these ideas, there are tons of other ways for this application to be used in classrooms of every grade.
